Director: Sharon McLennon
Sharon A. McLennon is Deputy Chairman of Caribbean Centre for Organisation Development Excellence Limited. A Jamaican by birth she has a strong commitment to the development of Jamaican organisations.
She is a New York Certified Public Accountant and worked extensively in both private and public accounting before moving on to pursue her passion in real estate. She is a Florida licensed real estate broker, property manager and licensed real estate instructor. Sharon is actively engaged in the real estate market for more than 15 years. As the founder of Splendor Realty, Inc., an independent real estate brokerage company, and its sister company Renaissance Property Managers, Inc., she provides quality housing opportunities and manages an array of residential and commercial properties for clients in Florida.
A Certified Public Accountant in her previous career, Ms. McLennon is a firm believer that every person should have the opportunity to own their own home and began her career working with first time homebuyers. Recognizing that many of her clients were not financially sophisticated and needed coaching and a longer term strategy to prepare them for homeownership, Ms. McLennon launched the Baby-Steps Homebuyer Club. The Club has been in existence since 2003 and currently has more than 75 active members. The Club is designed to provide its members with free access to information on budgeting, credit management, lending and other real estate related topics. Ms. McLennon is a Florida certified Affordable Housing Specialists and has put more than 100 first time homebuyers into homes of their own.
Ms. McLennon joined the South Florida chapter of the National Association of Real Estate Brokers (NAREB) in 2007 to support the organization’s mission of promoting “democracy in housing”. NAREB is the oldest minority real estate trade organization in the United States and traces its roots back to the 1940’s. Since joining SFBOR, Ms. McLennon has served as Board member-at-large, Treasurer, Secretary and 1st Vice President and it’s currently serving her second term as President.
Ms. McLennon is a member of the Plantation Chamber of Commerce and the Broward Alliance for Neighborhood Development (BAND). She is also a member of the board of the Housing Foundation of America and the Lauderhill Chamber of Commerce and serves on the Professional Standards and Candidate Screening committees of the Realtor Association of Greater Fort Lauderdale. She is the current chair of the Advisory Board of the Lauderhill YMCA.
Ms. McLennon holds Bachelors and Masters degrees in Economics from the City College of New York, and a Masters in Business Administration from Baruch College of the City University of New York. She is a licensed real estate broker, real estate instructor and a Community Association Manager (CAM).
She currently lives in Plantation with her husband Wayne and two sons Alexander and Matthew.
